The Journal of Tropical Diseases and Parasitology (JTDP) (ISSN 1672-2302,CN 34-1263/R) is a medical academic journal sponsored by the Anhui Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention and supervised by the Anhui Provincial Health Commission. First published in 1972 under the titles Reference Materials for Schistosomiasis Research, Work Materials for Schistosomiasis Control, and Parasitic Diseases Control and Research, the journal was renamed to its current title in December 1998 and approved for domestic and international publication in November 2002. Since 2021, JTDP has transitioned from a quarterly to a bimonthly publication and became part of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association journal series.
With the mission of "Disseminating Cutting-edge Research and Advancing Tropical Disease Control," our journal primarily focuses on infectious diseases caused by various pathogens, infection-related diseases, and tropical diseases prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions. We specifically cover the epidemiology, prevention and control, diagnosis and treatment of zoonotic diseases, vector-borne diseases, natural focal diseases, and related fundamental research. Our journal features the following key sections: Expert Viewpoint, Original Article, Control Study, Investigation Study, Experimental Study, Clinical Study, Control Administration, Review, and Case Report. Through publishing high-quality original research, we provide an academic exchange platform for public health professionals, researchers and clinicians, advancing scientific progress and technological innovation in tropical diseases and parasitology to contribute to global public health initiatives.
Recognized as a Statistical Source Journal for Chinese Scientific and Technical Papers and Citation Database (CSTPCD), JTDP has been selected for the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association's Journal Development Fund support program. According to the 2025 China Academic Journal Impact Factor Annual Report, the journal’s latest composite impact factor stands at 2.340, ranking 7th among 128 journals in the field of internal medicine, with its Citation Impact (CI) falling into the Q1 category. The journal has been honored with multiple awards, including: The Outstanding Journal of East China Region The Outstanding Column Award of the Eastern China Journal,The Outstanding Journal of Anhui Province, and Anhui Provincial Outstanding Sci-Tech Journal. The journal is indexed by important international databases including Chemical Abstracts (CA), Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), European Academic Publishing Center Database (EuroPub), Ulrichsweb Global Serials Directory, and ICI Journals Master List.
The third editorial board of JTDP was established in December 2019. Currently, the Editor-in-Chief is Dr. WANG Tianping, an outstanding professional and technical talent in China, State Council Special Allowance recipient, a national advanced worker, and a chief expert in public health in Anhui Province, and so on. This editorial board consists of 76 experts and scholars from all over the country. To ensure the academic quality of manuscripts, this journal adopts a manuscript review system that combines peer review (double-blind review by two peer experts) and internal review by the editorial department (three-review system) for incoming manuscripts.
