Abstract: Jiangxi represents one of provinces with serious prevalence of schistosomiasis in China. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention signed an agreement with the former Jiangxi Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission for prevention and control of the parasites/schistosomiasis through collaborative innovation. Both parties agreed to actively implement series of efforts, including strengthed cooperation and innovation, which effectively boosted the progress of prevention and control of schistosomiasis in Jiangxi Province. This paper briefly reviewed the progress of schistosomiasis epidemic and control in Jiangxi Province, specified the major challenges faced in construction of the model area, and elaborated the countermeasures and suggestions in order to further promote the sustainable development of schistosomiasis control through collaborative innovation during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
