Abstract: AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK),an AMP-dependent protein kinase responsible for regulating the synthesis and catabolism of cellular energy,is a key regulator for cell growth, reproduction and autophagy.AMPK and its signaling pathway play an important role in viral, bacterial and parasitic infections and are expected to be a new drug target. In this paper,we reviewed the recent research on AMPK signaling pathway in infectious diseases.

Key words: AMPK signaling pathway, Energy metabolism, Infectious diseases , Pathogens , Drug target
