Abstract:

Objective To understand the influence on the content of protein, amino acid and glycogen for snails in project of afforestation for schistosomiasis control. Methods  One spot with the project of afforestation for schistosomiasis control and one spot with marsh (reed beach) nearby were selected in the upstream, midstream and downstream regions along the Yangtze River in Anhui Province, respectively. Snails in the spots were collected to detect the content of protein, amino acid and glycogen. Results  The content of protein for snails in woodland was 21.5%、11.5%、15.0% lower than that in grass land in the three spots, and glycogen was 5.5%、5.7% and 5.3% lower than that in grass land, respectively. The content of amino acid for snail in woodland was 47.1% and 51.5% lower than that in grass land in Anqing and Tongling spot, and little difference in Wuwei spot. Conclusion  The project of afforestation for schistosomiasis control had certain influence on nutritional composition of snails, and caused malnutrition for snails. It might be one of reasons for the decline on snail density.
