Abstract:

Objective  To assess the clinical efficacy of ultrasound-assisted surgical treatment of intracranial hemorrhage. Methods  38 patients with intracranial hemorrhage undergoing ultrasound-assisted surgical treatment in the hospital from July 2009 to December 2012 were served as the research subjects. All patients were scored using the Chinese Stroke Scale (CSS) before surgery and 14 days after surgery to assess the nerve functions and short-term recovery, the activities of daily living (ADL) was evaluated using the Barthel index 6 months after surgery and then the differences among the patients was statistically analyzed. Results  The mean of pre-surgical CSS score for the 38 patients was 28.42±5.59, which was higher than the mean of post-surgical CSS score (12.39±6.87) (P < 0.05). The follow-up 5 months after the surgery revealed that 34 patients had a fine post-surgical recovery (Barthel index > 60), and they could manage their daily activities by themselves. Conclusion  Ultrasound-assisted surgery showed a satisfactory efficacy in treatment of intracranial hemorrhage and deserved further and wider application.
